American Pancakes Recipe

This is my son’s favorite recipe: American pancakes. He asks me for them whenever he has the opportunity both for breakfast and for a snack. The pancakes he likes the most are with cocoa cream and he puts on his boots. Sometimes I make him pancakes that are thicker. While I am cooking the pancakes he is eating non-stop as they come out of the pan. I don’t have time to make a lot of more than five pancakes because they disappear.

We can make this recipe with the little ones, they are very excited to mix the ingredients and beat with the rods at full speed. With a little care they can even do it themselves, with the supervision of an adult, my son loves to get on the stove and make his own pancakes, little by little we are letting him make his first steps in the kitchen. Always watching his side I love to see how he enjoys making his pancakes. I encourage you to let the little ones in the house participate to cook with you, it is an activity that motivates them enormously and is extremely fun.


American pancakes called pancakes or pancakes are flat, round sweets made with a base dough with these ingredients: flour, milk, eggs, sugar, butter, yeast and accompanied by an essence such as cinnamon, vanilla or spice according to the country where it is consumed.

These sweets can be eaten at any time of the day, as breakfast or as a snack they are ideal, in our country they are consumed more in a sweet way, with syrup of very different flavors, chocolate, strawberry, caramel and accompanied by whipped cream.

They can be consumed with meat fillings and at any time of day, not only to make desserts, with which you already know you can unleash your imagination, create the base of the dough without sugar and you can enjoy a salty pancake or pancake.

Here in Spain we call them pancakes and they have a very fluffy and plump consistency than crepes with a smaller circumference. We usually consume them with chocolate and whipped cream, we call them pancakes with cream and it is very normal that they are served as desserts in restaurants, snacks. and even breakfasts.

In America, the pancake is bathed in maple syrup, but as everywhere there are many variants according to taste, we can bathe them with a multitude of jams, strawberry (like the one we made in our cold cheesecake ) a delicious homemade strawberry jam step by step, peach, orange etc …, with dulce de leche, honey, pastry creams (you can see how to make pastry cream in our recipe for strawberry shortcake) compotes, caramel, chocolates, etc … Accompanied by cream mounted and nuts.

In Latin America it is known by the name of pancake and it is made to consume both sweet and savory pancakes , filled with dulce de leches, strawberry coulis and even savory ones filled with chicken with cream and spinach. A whole world to discover thanks to pancakes.

But today I bring you a sweet recipe , with which we go with it.

For the recipe for American pancakes we have used chocolate for desserts, you know our weakness for chocolate, whenever we choose this ingredient to prepare our recipes it is a total success.

We accompany the pancakes with succulent strawberries that complement our snack in a very healthy and nutritious way, as well as the delicious strawberry smoothie ideal for any of our recipes with chocolate.

As the star of our recipes, chocolate is always, you already know the chocolate cake, irresistibly good or the most sophisticated and sublime chocolate mousse made with a kitchen siphon and for the most chocolatiers a strong chocolate brownie, are some of many of the recipes that you can find on the blog, choosing chocolate as the main ingredient. It is something we cannot resist. Hopelessly passionate about chocolate !!


  • 180 gr of all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs size M
  • 50 gr of melted butter
  • 275 ml whole milk
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 3 teaspoons Royal yeast
  • Olive oil for the pan

To choose between all these:

  • Cocoa cream
  • Strawberry, blueberry, raspberry jam, etc.
  • Honey
  • Chopped fruits such as strawberries, bananas, kiwi, apples
  • Nuts like pistachios, walnuts etc.
  • Flavored syrup, strawberry, caramel, chocolate
  • Dulce de leche, condensado milk.
  • Whipped cream
  • Maple syrup

As you can see there is a great variety of ingredients with which we can consume the pancakes, you just have to choose the one you like the most to have an American pancake of 10 !!


1 . In a bowl we break the two eggs and mix with the sugar, beat very well until the sugar is completely integrated with the egg.

2 . We will add the melted butter and not hot if we have melted it in the microwave we will have to let it temper since if we put it hot it could get the egg to curdle, we will beat the mixture well.

3 . We will add to the mixture the teaspoon of vanilla essence and the milk, we can use whole, semi or skimmed milk as an observation in case you do not use one or the other. We will beat well.

4 . Before adding the flour to the mixture or I advise sifting with the yeast, we will add the pinch of salt, and once we have sifted everything we will pour it into the bowl where we are making the mixture, stir everything well and mix. We will have to have a thin dough, not too liquid or too thick. We will let the dough rest while we prepare the pan where we will make the American pancakes.

5 . In a small diameter pan we will add a few drops of olive oil or butter and we will clean the pan with kitchen paper, put it over medium heat, when it is hot we will add a saucepan with the help of a ladle.

We will try to always be the same amount so that all the American pancakes come out the same size and thickness, when the pancake begins to have bubbles we will turn it over to make it on the other side.
