HENNESSY JERK CHICKEN WINGS – I’m hoping everyone is doing well and is prepared to make some delicious Hennessy Jerk Chicken Wings. On game days, parties, family get-togethers, and pretty much any other occasion you can think of, these are wonderful as a side dish.

Let’s get started. For this recipe, I am using about three pounds of wings. Get them into a large mixing bowl and add your favorite jerk seasoning. You can go with whatever choice you like. Personally, I like to use the following one, however it’s a lot of different ingredients that you may or may not have at home. If you do, great! Mix them all up and add it to the chicken. If you don’t then you can pick up a ready-made seasoning in the store and use that.

— 1 tablespoon onion powder
— 1 tablespoon garlic powder
— 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
— 2 teaspoons salt
— 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
— 2 teaspoons dried thyme (or use 1 teaspoon ground thyme)
— 2 teaspoons sugar (or use brown sugar)
— 1 teaspoon ground allspice
— 1 teaspoon dried parsley
— 1 teaspoon paprika
— 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
— 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
— 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
— 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
— 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin


Hennessy Sauce:

With the wings resting in the seasoning, it’s time to get started on the sauce that we are going to be applying to these wings. You are going to need a quarter cup of butter, quarter cup of sugar, quarter cup of apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon of orange zest and two cups of barbecue sauce. I use Sweet Baby Ray’s as I like the sweetness and finally half a cup of Hennessy.

Before you do anything else, get outside and get that grill lit. You want to be getting it up to about 400 degrees so that it is nice and hot for when those wings go on.

You can make the sauce in the kitchen or put your pan directly over the grill and make it all outside. First, you want to get that butter into the pan and start melting it. With it melted, you can add the sugar and apple cider vinegar. Give it a good mix. With all the sugar dissolved, pour in the BBQ sauce and add the orange zest. Keep it on the heat for about five minutes to allow all the flavors to come together. Finally tip in the cup of Hennessy continue to stir for a couple of minutes and take it off the heat.

Get the Wings on the Grill:

Ok, let’s get these wings on the grill. Cooking wings is of course dead simple, just grill and turn. As the wings start to finish their cook, lightly brush on your Hennessy sauce. Continue doing this until your wings are cooked all the way through. Alternatively, cook your wings right through with just the jerk seasoning on them and then pour the sauce over the wings when you plate them up. Both ways work and both taste fantastic!
