PASTA WITH GROUND BEEF

PASTA WITH GROUND BEEF – This ground beef pasta recipe has a slow-cooked flavor, but it’s done in less than 30 minutes! It’s ideal for a busy weeknight.
INGREDIENTS:
— 8 ounces (ca. 302 g) uncooked pasta
— 1 pound (ca. 454 g) extra lean ground beef
— 1/2 medium onion chopped
— 1 tablespoon olive oil
— 3 cloves garlic minced
— 1 (14 fluid ounce) can of diced tomatoes with juices
— 2 tablespoons tomato paste
— 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
— 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
— 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
— Freshly grated Parmesan cheese optional, to taste
— Salt & pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cook the pasta al dente according to package directions in a salted saucepan of water.
In a big skillet (or small pot/Dutch oven), sauté the onion and olive oil for 4-5 minutes over medium-high heat.
Cook for another 8 minutes or until the beef has browned, then add the ground beef and garlic (break the meat up with your spoon as you go along). If there is a lot of surplus fat, spoon it out.
Combine the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning in a large mixing bowl. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened somewhat.
After adding the cream, cook for another 3-5 minutes (it will warm up and decrease slightly).
Toss with the drained pasta and season with salt and pepper as needed.
Serve with Parmesan cheese if desired.
